Last year, the Yankees’ postseason run ended a little too soon for our liking. This winter saw the team make improvements, but also steer away from the blockbuster moves so many expected. That unsatisfying combination, paired with a general malaise surrounding the slow-moving free agent market, resulted in some displeased fans.
The good news, however, is that the winter is over. Baseball is back, and with it a clean slate for the Yankees. Anything can happen this year, and it all starts today.
Masahiro Tanaka gets the Opening Day honors for the fourth time in his career. He faces off against Andrew Cashner. Two veteran right-handers battling it out in the Bronx should make for a good time. I’m definitely looking forward to see if Tanaka puts his new knuckle-curve to the test.
