WFAN: Ichiro Suzuki wasn’t a Yankee for long, but you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who has negative things to say about him. Suzuki temporarily “retired” last year, but came back this year to play two early-season games (which had expanded rosters) with the Seattle Mariners. While Ichiro didn’t get a hit and really hasn’t been a good major league ballplayer for five years or so, it was an awesome and deserved exit. Yankees GM Brian Cashman also issued a statement congratulating Suzuki on his career.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: Greg Bird has had an outstanding spring training, one that surprisingly put him on the radar for an MLB roster spot. However, Bird has gotten injured yet again. He went for X-rays on a sore elbow after being hit there by a pitch on Wednesday. The good news is that it came back negative. The team seems optimistic, but Bird’s durability remains a major concern for the Yankees moving forward.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: Clint Frazier is another player who had an outside chance of nailing an MLB roster spot with a good spring. While he’s hitting just .140 this spring, it hasn’t brought Frazier down. The outfielder opened up about his difficult 2018 season, and how it has changed his outlook on things. Although Frazier hasn’t looked great, maybe he’ll snag a roster spot with injuries to Aaron Hicks and others.
CBS New York | John Dias: One of the best parts of going to baseball games is the food! In that respect, the Yankees have got you covered. They unveiled some new menu items earlier this week, including outrageous new burgers, loaded mozzarella sticks, giant baby back ribs, a new partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings, and several vegan options. Some of the items are imported from notable NY eateries like Mighty Quinn’s and City Winery. Check out the video from CBS New York, which got to sample some of the good eats.
