Estevan Florial gets lofty praise; Masahiro Tanaka reacts to Opening day nod; Austin Romine wants to start someday

MLB: Spring Training-New York Yankees at Philadelphia Phillies Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

New York Post | Kevin Kernan: Estevan Florial, the Yankees top prospect, has impressed in camp so far. The center fielder demonstrated in the early goings why the front office values him so highly. According to Willie Randolph, who has spent time at Yankees all spring, Florial has the same sort of vibes as Bernie Williams. There’s a long way to go, obviously, but it’s never a bad thing to land in the same company as Bernie.

North Jersey | Pete Caldera: The Yankees named Masahiro Tanaka as the team’s Opening Day starter yesterday. This marks the fourth time Tanaka received the bid. He’s excited, too. “It’s a celebration for me,’’ the right-hander explained. “It’s an honor to get that start.’’ Tanaka is just the best.

NJ.com | Randy Miller: Austin Romine, looking ahead to free agency, said he hopes to start someday. Okay then, see you later! In all seriousness, the backstop expressed how much he enjoys playing for the Yankees and how he looks forward to competing this year. He will have some tough decisions to make this winter.
