New York Post | George A King III: Many positions on the Yankees are pretty well locked up. One position that’s not is first base. Greg Bird and Luke Voit are the two main competitors for the job. Greg Bird, spring training offensive juggernaut, put on a strong case yesterday with an absolutely crushed 3-run oppo bomb. On the flip side, Luke Voit flashed some sweet leather. Who are you rooting for, Yankee fans?
MLB.com | Ralph Long: Danny Farquhar is close. After last year’s horrifying scenario, Farquhar is close to returning to the mound. He pitched a sim game on Wednesday and was downright giddy when he saw his name on the board for Saturday’s game against the Pirates. I think I speak for everyone when I say good luck to Farquhar. We’re all pulling for you.
Newsday | David Lennon: Aaron Hicks, also known as the Yankee who is slightly responsible for me living in Minnesota, was recently extended to a 7-year deal. Perhaps you were not aware of that fact. With Hicks locked up, it gives the Yankees a solid centerfielder for a good amount of time. It also allows them time to further develop their #1 prospect, Estevan Florial, who will most likely start the year in High-A Tampa. Or maybe they’ll trade him down the line. Baseball is a mystery.
