Yankees and Phillies get rained out

Welp.

MLB: New York Yankees-Workouts Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

Update: So much for that. Today’s game has been canceled due to rain.

12:30 PM: For the first time this spring, it’s Tanaka Time.

Masahiro Tanaka makes his first start of Grapefruit League play this afternoon against the Phillies. The right-hander turned in another solid season in 2018, having pitched to an 87 ERA- over 156 innings. Tanaka quietly stabilized the Yankees’ rotation over the last few years. The team will count on him to do so again in 2019.

The Bombers’ lineup features a number of regulars. Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Luke Voit form the heart of the order. Brett Gardner and DJ LeMahieu will also see action. Interestingly enough, LeMahieu gets to start at third base as Miguel Andujar recovers from a stomach bug.

Here are the full lineups:

It was raining in Tampa earlier. Let’s hope they can get a game in. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM. You can watch on YES, steam on MLB.tv, or listen along on WFAN. Go Yankees!
