We’ve reached an important offseason benchmark: Pitchers and catchers officially report to spring training today! A ton of Yankees showed up to camp early, but all the rest of the players aren’t required to be there prior to February 18th.
Since today marks the start of spring training, Aaron Boone will kick things off with a press conference this afternoon. We can probably anticipate some injury updates (Gary Sanchez, Didi Gregorius, CC Sabathia, etc.), his take on the offseason moves, and what to expect over the next few weeks. There will certainly be a first base competition and a bullpen competition...maybe even a battle for that last outfield spot between Brett Gardner, Clint Frazier, and Jacoby Ellsbury? I hope someone asks what in the world they’re planning to do with Ellsbury.
We’ll have a breakdown of the press conference later this evening, but for now use this thread to discuss it.
