New York Post | Dan Martin: First things first, if you missed it, the Yankees made a move yesterday. After already getting DFAed to open up a spot for Gerrit Cole, the Yankees traded pitcher Chance Adams to the Royals in exchange for minor league infielder Cristian Perez. Mostly a shortstop, Perez is 21-years old and reached advanced single-A in 2019. His hitting numbers won’t exactly wow anyone, but considering the circumstances of the trade that brought him to the Yankees, that’s not exactly a surprise.
NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: Speaking of Cole, here is a look at the training facility and the people that helped him develop into the pitcher that the Yankees were willing to give a $324 million contract to.
Louisville Courier Journal | Alfred Miller: Speaking of articles on players and their training facilities, here’s another one. While this one doesn’t have quite the current newsworthiness of Cole’s, this article is a decent look at a place that’s helped form and develop an important piece of the current Yankee team. Chad Green went to the University of Louisville and lives in the city in the offseason, so he trains at a local facility along with other major and minor leaguers.
Smithsonian Magazine | Alice George: While there’s much that will be new to people who truly know the story, here is a look at Babe Ruth, his move from the Red Sox to the Yankees, and how he developed into the almost mythical figure that he is today. Plus, hey, why not read about the Yankees swindling their biggest rivals? Consider it a nice Christmas Eve gift.
