NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: Let’s start with some good news on the injury front for once! Edwin Encarnacion participated in a simulated game on Wednesday afternoon, and Aaron Boone reported that he “looked good” and was swinging with full effort. Gio Urshela, who suffered an ankle injury the other day, is also said to be fine. It sounds like both will be ready for ALDS action on Friday.

New York Post | Joel Sherman: The Yankees haven’t made any roster decisions yet, but they’re running out of time. Rosters have to be submitted Friday morning, but the Yankees don’t have to announce their pitching plan until closer to game time. There’s a lot left to debate. Should they use openers or just let their three starters do their thing? Did Mike Ford earn a spot? It sounds like he might have:

Baseball America | Ben Badler: The Yankees signed center fielder Jasson Dominguez back in July for $5.1 million, and he has already made a good first impression. In a Dominican instructional league game yesterday, he hit his first home run as a Yankee. Check out the video in the story.
