The Yankees played with their backs against the wall yesterday, and they walked away with a win to keep the season alive. That was so much fun that they should do it again!
As it turns out, Game Six of the ALCS will be a bullpen day for both teams. On paper, that should favor the Yankees. The front office constructed the roster for this exact scenario. The Bombers have bolstered their bullpen at every opportunity over the last several years, so it’s only fitting the season comes down to them.
Chad Green will open, despite appearing to run on fumes of late. He’s been one of the team’s postseason MVPs, so hopefully he brings it tonight. After that expect all hands on deck. The Yankees shouldn’t think about managing the ‘pen for tomorrow, because that isn’t guaranteed.
Peacock, meanwhile, pitched to a 4.12 ERA (4.42 FIP) over 91.2 innings in 2019. He made an appearance in yesterday’s Game Five, retiring all three batters he faced. The Astros have a fresh bullpen, so anyone can be available, including rookie Jose Urquidy. How much fun would it be jump all over their relievers and let J.A. Happ soak up some stress-free innings? We can dream, right?
Let’s force a Game Seven! Go Yankees!
