After an easy win to kick off the ALCS last night, the Yankees and Astros forced Game Two to extra innings. Unfortunately, the Bombers ran out of good relievers and Houston was able to tie up the series 1-1 before hitting the road for three games in the Bronx. We’ll have a full recap up at some point. Here are the highlights in the meantime:
Winner of the Game
Just like he did during the regular season, Aaron Judge took Justin Verlander deep to right field. That gave the Yankees the lead for awhile. He just missed another home run later in the game, which might have gone out if we were dealing with regular season baseballs.

Loser(s) of the Game
Adam Ottavino has not looked great this postseason. It was strange to see him enter the ALDS twice specifically to pitch to Nelson Cruz, walk him, and exit the game. Tonight, he entered with a one-run lead in the fifth and immediately surrendered a solo shot to George Springer. That made all the difference in the game.
Things took a less than ideal turn in extra innings when the Bombers were forced to turn to the likes of CC Sabathia, Jonathan Loaisiga, and J.A. Happ. They somehow made it through the tenth inning unscathed, but Happ did what he has done best all season and gave up a leadoff home run to Carlos Correa to end the game.
Honorable mention: James Paxton, Jonathan Loaisiga
