Tulowitzki likes Machado; Machado would be worth cost; Machado’s wife likes NY; Britton’s sinker is worth the money

ESPN | Coley Harvey: When the Yankees signed Troy Tulowitzki, there was speculation that the team would forego their pursuit of free agent superstar Manny Machado. Tulowitzki was asked about Machado and his response was encouraging. He said he came to the Yankees to play with the best, and if the team got Machado, that would “awesome.” As of right now, the team will try Tulowitzki out as the starting shortstop, but there’s still room for Machado.

New York Post | Ken Davidoff: For reasons that I honestly cannot comprehend, there are some Yankees fans who do not want the team to sign Manny Machado. Part of the reason is because of how much he would cost the team and how that would affect the 2069 Yankees or something. Supposedly the Yankees have no intention of offering even $200 million to Machado, and if they can somehow convince him to take that, he would absolutely be worth signing. Even those that care about the 2069 Yankees should support it.

CBS Sports | Katherine Acquavella: If Manny Machado does decide to sign with the Yankees, or take a discount, it seems like his wife could be a reason why. Supposedly Yainee Machado loves New York City and wants very much to call that city home. Here’s hoping something can be worked out that makes all parties happy.

FanGraphs | Jeff Sullivan: In non-Machado news, Zach Britton is a Yankee again because Brian Cashman hates me and let David Robertson walk. Not that I’m mad or anything. Still though, I do support the Yankee colony reuniting with Britton. Britton’s bread and butter is his sinker. “He was the guy who made the sinker sexy again.” While he wasn’t quite as dominant last year, he showed enough to be brought back. And there’s still time for him to become elite again. Hopefully the Yankees’ defense can support him and all the grounders he’ll generate.

Oh My

If any of you need motivation to keep working on that New Year’s resolution, here it is. Look at those legs...
