Following a pair of solid wins over the Seattle Mariners already this weekend, the Yankees have a chance to cap the series with a sweep. They’ll look for a bounce-back start from CC Sabathia to do so.
On Monday in Oakland, Sabathia didn’t make it out of the fourth inning, surrendering five runs - four earned - and seven hits. Fortunately, the Mariners aren’t nearly as offensively talented as the Athletics, with just a 100 wRC+ compared to the As’ 109. Against lefties, that drops down to a 96 wRC+, so CC should have something of an edge starting in Safeco.
Erasmo Ramirez counters for Seattle, and he has struggled mightily in 2018. If he qualified for pitching leaderboards, he’d have the highest home run rate in baseball, so look for the Yankees to jump out early with the long ball.
David Robertson has pitched the last two games and so he’s likely unavailable, but otherwise the full bullpen should be. Chad Green hasn’t worked in almost a week, you can expect him to be used today barring a complete game shutout.
First pitch is at 4:10pm EDT, on YES, WFAN, and FOX Sports GO.
Going for the Emerald City sweep.
