New York Yankees vs. Oakland Athletics: J.A. Happ vs. Liam Hendriks

Can Happ bounce back tonight?

The Yankees dropped the first game in this series, but they have a chance to even things out tonight. J.A. Happ will get the nod for the Bombers. The southpaw was roughed up during his last start, surrendering three home runs and five earned runs to the Tigers through just 4.1 innings. That was his first bad outing in pinstripes, so hopefully he is able to right the ship tonight.

Apparently the Athletics have followed the Rays’ lead and started using an opener. Liam Hendriks will be opening for Oakland tonight, and isn’t expected to pitch for more than two innings. The right-hander has only pitching 12.2 innings in the majors this season, and has been awful. SSS alert, but Hendriks owns a 7.82 ERA (6.08 FIP) with 5.68 BB/9 and 2.13 HR/9. He opened Saturday’s game against the Mariners and gave up two runs.

The game starts at 10:05 ET (sorry), and you can catch it on YES, NBCSCA, or MLB Network. You can also tune in to WFAN, WADO, KIQI, or The Game.
