Don’t look now but the Yankees have won two games in a row at Tropicana Field. Who knew that was allowed? They have a strong chance to win the series now too! Unthinkable.
The Bombers will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound to make his audition for Wild Card starter. Postseason Tanaka was filthy last year, but he’s been all over the place this season. The right-hander has enjoyed a much better second half. However, he was roughed around by the Red Sox during his last outing. He’ll need to bounce back tonight.
Ryne Stanek will serve as opener for Tampa Bay. He owns a 2.70 ERA through 63.1 innings, and seems to be thriving in the opener role. This will be his seventh time facing the Yankees this season, and they haven’t figured him out yet. He has tossed 6.1 scoreless innings against them.
Game time is 7:10 ET. You can catch the action on YES or Fox Sports Sun, or tune in to WFAN, WADO, WDAE, or WGES.
We’ll look to make it three-in-a-row in Tampa tonight.
