The Yankees opened up the last homestand of the regular season with a win over the Orioles last night. They’ll try to earn the series win this afternoon with Lance Lynn set to square off against David Hess.

Lynn actually made his Yankees debut against Baltimore at the beginning of August. If you remember, it was the game that bounced Sonny Gray out of the rotation. The new Yankee was called upon for a lengthy relief outing and ended up tossing 4.1 scoreless innings. He has been up and down since then, but limited the Blue Jays to just one run through five innings earlier in the week.

This will be the Bombers’ first time facing Hess. The right-hander has been largely bad through 91.1 innings this year. He owns a 5.22 ERA (5.68 FIP) with 1.42 WHIP across 17 starts. Hess has surrendered 19 home runs, which should bode well for the offense. It’s equally possible that they won’t be able to figure him out.

Today’s game starts at 4:05 ET and you can tune in on YES, MASN, or MLB Network (out of market only). It will also be on WFAN, WADO, and 105.7 The Fan.
