The Yankees sure needed that day off yesterday, didn’t they? The team has felt sluggish since the All-Star break, and that magnified over the last two weeks. Hopefully the Bombers are feeling fresh and can bank some wins at home as they try to secure home-field advantage for the Wild Card Game. First up on the homestand? The Toronto Blue Jays.
Masahiro Tanaka gets the ball tonight for the Yankees. That’s great news! Tanaka has emerged as the staff ace in the second half, and his starts have become appointment viewing. He’s my pick to start the Wild Card Game. As for the Blue Jays, Marco Estrada will take the mound. He’s been pretty bad all season, and the Yankees should bat accordingly.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. You can watch on WPIX. WFAN 660/101.9 FM and WADO 1280 have the radio broadcast. Go Yankees!
Back home against the Blue Jays.
