Last night’s game was...something. If nothing else, it reminded us all why Sonny Gray and Jonny Loaisiga are not in the Yankees rotation. Sadly, with Luis Severino pitching the way that he has been for the last two plus months, today’s game could end up looking a lot like yesterday’s.
Sevy seemed to take a few steps forward recently, but was hit hard by the Athletics in Oakland during his last outing. He gave up five earned runs and was pulled from the game before making it through three innings. Hopefully the extra day off did him some good.
He’ll face off against Jake Odorizzi. The right-hander has pitched to a 4.57 ERA (4.32 FIP) through 147.2 innings this season. He was roughed up by the Astros last week to the tune of five runs. Odorizzi also surrendered five runs—and two home runs—to the Bombers when he faced them back in April.
First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 ET and the game will be available on YES or FSNO. Alternatively, you can tune in to WFAN, WADO, WCCO, or TIBN.
