After outlasting the Orioles in an extra-inning win last night, the Yankees will get to work this afternoon with a doubleheader in Baltimore. The Yankees will be forced to bring Sonny Gray back into the rotation for a spot start in the nightcap, but they are sending one of their more dependable hurlers, J.A. Happ, to the mound for the first game.
Happ has been rock-solid for the Yankees so far. He’s made four starts in pinstripes and allowed just six runs in 24.1 innings, striking out 23 and walking seven. He’s lowered his overall ERA for the season to 3.84, and he’s maintained a strikeout rate of 10.0 per nine.
He’ll be opposed by Jimmy Yacabonis. The 26-year-old right-hander has a limited track record. He’s made only 19 career appearances, and this will be just his fourth start. Yacabonis has yet to impress, posting a 5.40 ERA in 36.2 innings since 2017, with as many walks (21) as strikeouts.
The game is scheduled to begin at 1:05 EST. You can catch the game on the YES Network, and can stream it with Fox Sports Go. You can also turn to WFAN 660/101.9 FM and WADO 1280 on the radio.
