New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays: Luis Cessa vs. Jake Faria

The Yankees look to make it two in a row against the Rays.

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Last night’s victory against the Rays had everything going right for the Yankees. They got a strong outing from their starting pitcher, timely offense, and a relatively stress free bullpen showing. I would not mind doing that again tonight!

To keep the ball rolling, the Yankees will send Luis Cessa to the mound. To get him on the roster, they designated George Kontos for assignment. This will be Cessa’s fourth big league start of the season. He pitched against the Rays at Tropicana Field last month, and for the most part did a nice job.

As for the Rays, Jake Faria gets the ball. A regular opener for Kevin Cash, Faria has managed a 4.97 ERA with a 4.81 FIP over 54.1 innings. Somewhat surprisingly, he has yet to pitch against the Yankees this season. The right-hander works primarily with a low-90s fastball, but he’ll also throw a changeup and slider.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. You can watch on YES and stream via the FOX Sports GO app. WFAN 660/101.9 FM and WADO 1280 have the radio call. Go Yankees!
