New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Manager Aaron Boone told WFAN that Masahiro Tanaka had a “really good” rehab outing on Wednesday for Triple-A Scranton and is on schedule to rejoin the rotation in his normal turn in Baltimore for Monday’s doubleheader.
New York Post | Dan Martin: Yankees pitching prospect Justus Sheffield was named to the Futures Game on Thursday, part of MLB’s All-Star week activities. In 10 starts this season for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the southpaw is 2-3 with a 2.61 ERA. He spent time on the DL in May with shoulder tightness, but has been lights out since returning. Sheffield’s arrival to The Show appears to be on the horizon. He could be called up to help the Yankees sometime this season. He could also be used as a centerpiece in a deal to acquire a top-shelf starter.
MLB.com | Jesse Sanchez: The Yankees agreed to a $600,000 deal with catcher Antonio Gomez, who is #11 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 International Prospects list. This comes on the heels of New York signing Luis Severino’s younger bother, Rafael. The organization has inked 13 international free agents so far during the current signing period.
New York Daily News | John Harper: Bryce Harper has been taking grounders at first base. Perhaps this is a blatant attempt to get the Yankees’ attention, as Greg Bird has struggled lately.
New York Post | Dan Martin: According to CC Sabathia, Sonny Gray’s struggles may be as simple as the talented righty caring “too much.” In other Sonny Gray news, his twitter was hacked. I hate to see that happen to anyone.

Yanks loved Harvey at one point (who didn’t?) and he’s pitching well again. But he’s not high on their starting pitcher list now due to what was termed a “potential circus” (just meaning the media frenzy that would come with the ex Met star)

According to a source, the Blue Jays have been extensively scouting the Brewers' system. J.A. Happ could be on Milwaukee's radar, as the Brewers need a starter and the lefty is one of the top arms expected to be traded this month.
