Yankees need to DFA Neil Walker immediately.

Boone has tried to play Neil Walker as a back up to both Bird and Torres, but now that they have Drury playing First, Walker is mostly just playing second base now. He shouldn't be playing first because he would be taking at bats away from Bird and Drury, who both need to get going at the plate (especially Bird, but how Boone manages first base is a different discussion).

Earlier in the year, it took Walker a while until he was hitting the ball well, then once first and second was taken by both Torres and Bird, his BA of .218 took an even steeper decline. Its clear to me that he won't be a good hitter unless he plays everyday, which won't happen unless Torres gets hurt. Even if second base was open for a short amount of time, why wouldn't you have Ronald Torreyes play there? In the majors he had a .323 BA, and was able to do that without seeing regular time in the infield. I don't care if his average regresses because he hit .292 BA last year doing the same thing.

Stop wasting time hoping that Walker would turn it around. Now that Drury can play first, Torreyes is the better option to back up Torres, and he can also play SS or 3B if need be. Maybe you try to trade Walker in a deal for a Starting pitcher, but if another team doesn't want him, than they minus well cut him. He is only on a one year deal, so it should not be a problem financially.
