J.A. Happ made his first start for the Yankees and he impressed in the process. The southpaw tossed six innings of one-run ball against the Kansas City Royals. He struck out two and walked one. The only damage came in the form of a solo homer off the bat of Salvador Perez. That’s fine work for the new guy on the block.
Following the game, Happ addressed members of the media to talk about his outing. “I think I would be lying if I said no,” he said when asked if he felt added pressure in today’s game. Happ also touched upon what it’s like to wear pinstripes and praised Yankees catcher Austin Romine. The whole interview is worth watching!

It’s hard not to like Happ. He isn’t a flashy addition, but he seems genuine and appears to be a good clubhouse guy. He made a good first impression on the field, and followed it up with a top notch interview. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Happ!
