It has been an eventful series for the Yankees. They added J.A. Happ to the rotation, and shipped Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos to the Cardinals. Unfortunately, they also were forced to place Aaron Judge on the disabled list with a fractured wrist. I’m ready for the Royals to get out of town.
Happ will make his Yankees debut this afternoon, so that’s exciting. July has not been particularly kind to the lefty, but he only surrendered one earned run over his last 8.2 innings pitched. He was tagged for four runs off five hits with eight strikeouts when he last faced the Royals back in April.
Burch Smith will take the mound for Kansas City. The right-hander has pitched about as well as Sonny Gray this season, and owns a 5.58 ERA (5.02 FIP) over 50 innings. He has given up nine home runs, so hopefully the Yankee lineup will take advantage of that.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 ET. You can watch the game on YES or FSKC, or listen along on KCSP, WFAN, or WADO.
