While a decent chunk of the focus has been on trades made by the Yankees in the past couple days, there’s still baseball to be played.
At least one of the new additions definitely won’t be on the field today as the Yankees open up a series at home against the Royals. Kansas City is not a great team, even though they did take two of three in their prior meeting this season. A couple months later, with the rosters looking a little different, can the Yankees do a little better in the second series?
Sonny Gray is coming off a pair of decent outings in his last two starts. If he wants to keep that going and actually look capable of continuing to make major league starts, the Royals represent a good chance to do that.
The rest of the Yankees lineup is mostly normal, with the exception of Neil Walker getting the start at third.
Back home for a new series.

Royals’ starter Jakob Junis started off the season pretty well, but has struggled recently. He’ll get the ball in the series opener.
