Newsday | Roger Rubin: Domingo German may very well have a future with the Yankees. However, after yesterday’s poor outing, it’s apparent he still has some things to work on. Like a 3rd pitch maybe. This is probably why the Yankees optioned him back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last night. Luis Cessa has been called up to take his spot in the rotation. Cessa pitched very well against the Orioles before the All-Star Break and he’s been showing signs of improvement on the RailRiders lately. We’ll see though. Please get a starter, Cashman.
MLB.com | Jon Paul Morosi: We have a birthday to celebrate today. CC Sabathia turn 38, which means he was born the same year I was. Cool. At the beginning of the year, Sabathia mentioned that he wanted to win one more ring with the Yankees before calling it a career. However, it looks like he wants to pitch one more year before calling it quits. Of course, this all depends on if his knee holds up, which CC is aware of. At least he’ll have a podcasting career to fall back on with Ryan Ruocco.
New York Post | Dan Martin: As you probably heard, Clint Frazier was placed on the 7-day disabled list, under the concussion protocol. This is rough news for Frazier, who had been doing well in Triple-A since coming back from the original injury before the beginning of the season. Concussions are nothing to screw around with. Here’s hoping he’ll be alright.
MLB.com | Mandy Bell: The injury bug has not been kind to the Yankees this season. Thankfully, Gary Sanchez was back from his DL stint last night. The other good news is that Gleyber Torres is recovering well. All signs point to him returning to the Yankees on Wednesday, when the Yankees face the Rays at Tropicana Field. For the record, I am fine with holding him back a day so he doesn’t have to play in that dump.
