One Thing The Yankees Must Do To Win The Division

Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Win more games than Boston. Or, to put it another way, lose less games than Boston.

That's it, really, for the big picture scenario but this FanPost demands to be fed 50 words or it refuses to publish.

So, i'll give it a try. All we have to do in the second half of the season is duplicate the Yankees win-loss record for the first half of the season: 54-27-.667. With a 108-54-.667 final regular season record, the Yankees should be able to win the Division. And avoid the dreaded (by me) Wild Card game.

Now that the Wild Card game has been mentioned, i would like to ask a general question: if the Yankees or Boston lose the Wild Card game, do you think the resultant media/fan hullabaloo will be sufficient to force MLB to change the playoff formula?
