MLB.com | Ken Gurnick: Well, we’ve done it. We’ve finally reached the end of the Manny Machado trade rumors part of our link dumps. As Jake Devin reported yesterday, the Orioles trade Machado to the Dodgers for five prospects. This is probably only the beginning of the Orioles’ fire sale. Needless to say, we will not have to see Machado again this year, unless the Yankees & Dodgers face each other in the World Series. Machado will probably help the Dodgers with that. So long, Yankee Machado trade rumors...
New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: ...and hello 2019 Yankee Machado free agent rumors. It’s entirely possible that the Dodgers will attempt to sign/extend Machado on a long-term basis. Until that happens, he will be one of the most coveted free agents at the end of this season. Machado’s nephew J.J. wants him in pinstripes and Brian Cashman might as well. We’ve got a bit more time to think about that though.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Since we’re at the All-Star Break, it’s time for the usual look at how the 1st half went. While the Yankees are the 2nd best team in the majors, they are still in 2nd place in the division. Overall, pretty pretty good. Now the Yankees will look to pull ahead in the 2nd half. They will most likely attempt to trade for a starting pitcher to help with that. There’s also the possibility they promote Justus Sheffield to the majors. The rest of July will be interesting to watch.
Newsday | Erik Boland: It’s not an All-Star Break with a list of things the Yankees will need in order to rise to the top of the AL East mountain. In this article, Boland lists five issues that the Yankees have as the enter the 2nd half of the season. Among them are a need for a starting pitcher, Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez coming back strong, Greg Bird continuing his hot end to the 1st half, Giancarlo Stanton being Giancarlo Stanton, and Dellin Betances continuing his dominance.
