After three close, tense games in Cleveland, the Yankees have a chance to secure a series win today against the Indians. Much like the ALDS these two teams put on last October, this series has been full of taut matches and dramatic moments. Let's hope this series culminates with the same result as the ALDS.
Masahiro Tanaka will make his second start since returning from the DL with injuries to both his hamstrings. Tanaka was uneven in his last outing, lasting only 4.1 innings against the Orioles, yielding three runs and striking out five. That was somewhat representative of his inconsistent season so far, as his ERA sits at 4.68, and his FIP at 4.96.
Trevor Bauer will start for Cleveland. Bauer has never been shy about his opinion of his own abilities, and this season at least, he's backed up the talk. He made his first All-Star team, running a 2.23 ERA in 129.1 innings. Bauer has put up strikeouts by the bucketful, limited walks, and allowed just 0.3 HR per nine.
It's a strong pitching matchup for the final game of this series between two great teams as we head into the All-Star Break. The game starts at 1:05 ET, and you can follow along on the YES Network and WFAN.
Series finale. First-half finale.
