New York Post | George A. King III: Let’s start this link dump off the way we start just about every link dump off these days. Manny Machado is not expected to be an Oriole for much longer. The Yankees were rumored to be in on him. The Orioles were rumored to want Justus Sheffield. The Yankees said they weren’t willing to offer him. This article states that the Yankees are not willing to part with any of their Top 10 prospects for Machado. Meanwhile, the Phillies and Brewers are rumored to be pushing hard to get him. Does Ninja Cash have a Ninja Cash move in him? We’ll see.
MLB.com | Jon Paul Morosi: In case you were not aware, the Los Angeles Angels are having a rough go of it in the AL West. They currently sit in fourth place, looking up at the Astros, Mariners, and Athletics above them. With the slew of injuries they’ve had to deal with, it’s very possible they could be seller this trade season. If so, the Yankees might be interested in some of their pitchers. Tyler Skaggs and Andrew Heaney are two names that come to mind. Billy Eppler is familiar with the Yankees’ organization, so it’s possible something can be worked out. We shall see.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Some good news on the injury front. Gary Sanchez is progressing well. He will be at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tomorrow for some rehab work, then travel with the team to Ohio. They are planning to have him back on Friday for the Subway Series against the Mets. Gleyber Torres is also almost ready to begin his rehab assignment. They are hoping he will be ready by July 23rd. Starting him at Tropicana Field is not my ideal situation, but then I never want any Yankee playing there.
Newsday | Erik Boland: Some would say that Aaron Boone made a booneheaded decision to risk sending Aaron Judge on Friday with Giancarlo Stanton on deck. Boone himself acknowledged that he might have second guessed himself there. One thing to take from all of that is that Boone is willing to discuss his decisions and why he did what he did, whether right or wrong. Game of inches and all that.
Yankees Magazine | Nathan Maciborski: The name Justus Sheffield has come up a bit recently. As you read up above, it’s likely due to the Machado trade rumors. This article goes into detail about Justus Sheffield’s history. giving us a behind the scenes look at the top pitching prospect. Please give this a read. Also, a reminder that you can watch him pitch today in the Future’s Game at 4PM on MLB Network.
