MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: If you read Tyler’s post from yesterday, as well as the game recap, you already know that Masahiro Tanaka left yesterday’s game with tightened hamstrings. So, I’m going to use the beginning of this link dump to rant.
Ahem.
I hate interleague play. I’ve always hated it, since the day it was announced. I hate it because it creates an unbalanced schedule throughout the year. I hate it because the AL and NL have different sets of rules. You know what other professional US sport has different rules for different leagues? None. Why? Because it’s asinine. I don’t hate the NL for not having the DH. I vastly prefer the DH, but hey, have pitchers bat if you want. Just don’t have teams with two different set of rules play each other. Who am I kidding though. It is never going away, even if they had 16 team leagues. Bunt interleague and bunt Bud Selig. That is all.
ESPN.com | Coley Harvey: Yesterday’s potential injury only goes to show how thin the Yankees’ depth is regarding pitching. Jordan Montgomery is already going to get TJS and Tanaka shoulda has at least four TJSeses by now. Bottom line is that the Yankees need pitching. You know who has pitching? The Mets of New York. Last night’s pitcher, Jacob deGrom, would look pretty good in pinstripes. Noah Syndergaard is another possible choice from the Amazin’s. Of course, they will probably not trade them to us. Or they’ll want more than Brian Cashman is willing to give up.
Newsday | David Lennon: In case you haven’t been following up on our baseball cousins from Queens, it’s been pretty, uh, Mets. Jacob deGrom pitches a gem and the offense and defense does nothing to help him. Mets fans and beat reporters have seen this story all year. Again, the Yankees could really use deGrom and the Mets could use a good amount of our fantastic farm system. It’s probably not going to happen.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Greg Bird looks healthy, thus far. That is good. A healthy Greg Bird makes a quasi-healthy Greg Kirkland Greghappy. While Greg Kirkland is focused on his link dumpage, Greg Bird is focusing on his defense. I mean, don’t worry. Bird is also focused on his offense as well. We’ve all heard and seen what he can do with the bat when healthy. It’ll be nice to see his defense come into focus as the months go by.
