It’s a new week. The Rays’ series is over. Time for the Yankees to, hopefully, get back on track. Following up their trip the Florida, the Yankees swing back north, taking on the Phillies in an interleague series starting tonight. Get out your Hideki Matsui shrines, because it’s time for a 2009 World Series rematch.
Jonathan Loasiga will make his third career start tonight. His first one went quite well, but the second was definitely a step back, as he only lasted 3.2 innings. Tonight marks his first road start, and first against an NL team.
Elsewhere in the lineup, Austin Romine will be making his first appearance as the temporary first-choice catcher in the wake of the Gary Sanchez injury.
On the mound for Philadelphia will be Vince Velasquez. The Phillies’ starter was one of the key pieces in the Ken Giles trade with the Astros back in 2015. Velasquez has allowed 17 runs in 23 innings this month, so here’s to hoping the Yankees can get back on track against him tonight.
The game will air on YES, and first pitch will be at 7:05 eastern. Go Yankees, go baseball.
New city. Starting fresh.
