Fresh off a stress-free win last night, the Yankees are back in action. Jonathan Loaisiga will be making his second career start. The first went about as well as anyone could have imagined, with the 23-year-old blanking the Rays for five innings. The Mariners have a strong lineup, but there’s no doubting his stuff. I’m looking forward to see what Johnny Lasagna can do here.
As for Seattle, Felix Hernandez takes the mound. King Felix stands but a fraction of his former self today. Once an unconquerable figure, his numbers have drifted from pedestrian to downright bad the last few years. His 5.44 ERA (4.68 FIP) is unsightly. That said, he still owns a career 3.04 ERA against the Yankees. He’s not the ace we once feared, but I’m hesitant to write him off.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. You can watch on YES locally or MLB Network if you’re an out-of-market reader. WFAN 660/101.9 FM and WADO 1280 have the radio broadcasts, while FOX Sports GO provides the live stream. Enjoy!
Round 1 was fun. Let's do it again tonight.
