The Nationals took the first game of this radical experiment in baseball makeups by a final score of 5-3. Now that the warmup game is completed, it’s the Yankees turn, as they look to snap this very brief two-game losing streak.
Sonny Gray gets the ball tonight, looking to rebound after his last start against these very same Nats last week. Before scuffling against Washington, he’d put up great starts in three of his previous four, and shows that he may be pulling himself out of the funk that was his early 2018.
In a stroke of historical poetry, Erick Fedde will ALSO make his second straight start in a series featuring the Yankees and Nationals. Last week the Yankees saw him well, putting up eight baserunners and four runs in just five innings. Hopefully that success carries over to put the Yankees back in the win column. The game starts at 6:45 ET.
