Sonny Gray has been on a roll of late. The right-hander owns a 3.38 ERA with a 3.99 FIP over his last seven starts. His overall line is still ugly — 4.81 ERA and 4.31 FIP — but it’s been positive of late. His struggles, however, largely come at Yankee Stadium. He’s going to need to correct that, though, and what better time to start than tonight? Gray draws a tough Nationals lineup, so this should be a representative challenge.
Washington meanwhile turns to Erick Fedde as Stephen Strasburg’s replacement. The 25-year-old has a career 8.14 ERA (5.67 FIP) across 21 innings. He’s a heralded prospect, but this has to be a relief for the Yankees. Instead of Strasburg, they draw Fedde. Now the team should take advantage of this score some runs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. You can watch on YES locally or ESPN for our out-of-market readers. WFAN 660/101.9 FM and WADO 1280 have the radio broadcasts. Plus, FOX Sports GO or the WatchESPN app will have the streams depending on your market. Go Yankees!
We can pick up a two-game sweep tonight.
