The Yankees kick off this road trip with two games against the Nationals. After yesterday’s off day, everyone should be feeling well-rested. Masahiro Tanaka is set to make the start opposite of Gio Gonzalez. The former surrendered four earned runs to Boston last week, and was tagged for two home runs. Prior to that, he pitched well against the Astros, Angels, and Twins during New York’s winning streaks. He will face Gonzalez, who is off to a great start this season. Through 44 and two-thirds innings, Gonzalez has a 2.22 ERA, 10.07 K/9, and has given up just one home run. The lefty has not pitched well against the Yankees in the past (6.65 ERA), so at least there’s that.
The exciting news of the day is that the Yankees called up Clint Frazier, though he did not make it into the starting lineup.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 ET and you can catch the game on YES or MASN. Alternatively, you can tune in to WFAN, WADO, or 106.7 The Fan. Go Yankees!
