New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox: CC Sabathia vs. Eduardo Rodriguez

It’s a battle of left-handers as the Yankees go for nine in a row.

Remember how the Yankees went on a nine-game winning streak earlier earlier this month? Don’t look now, but they have the chance to do it again. A win tonight would not only sweep Boston, but extend the latest stretch of success. They can also extend their lead in the AL East, which is a sentence that would have seemed incredulous this time last month.

CC Sabathia gets the start for the Yankees, who has been superb in 2018. The veteran left-hander owns a 1.39 ERA over 32.1 innings. His peripherals suggest he isn’t actually Sandy Koufax good, but his ability to generate soft contact means he’s no push-over.

The Red Sox will start a southpaw of their own in Eduardo Rodriguez. The 25-year-old struggled to a 5.29 ERA (4.56 FIP) across 32.1 innings. Funny how they both threw the same number of innings. Suffice it to say, CC has the edge in this pitching matchup.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. You can watch the series finale on WPIX locally or MLB Network for our out-of-market readers. WFAN 660/101.9 FM and WADO 1280 (regional listings) have the radio broadcast. Enjoy
