New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays: CC Sabathia vs. Aaron Sanchez

Welcome back, CC!

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees are back in action tonight, and thank goodness for that. Having a day off following a humiliating loss makes for a bunch of unhappy campers. That day without baseball means everyone stews over the bad loss longer than they should. The Bombers can now shake it off and get the bad taste out of their mouths.

On the mound for the Yankees is CC Sabathia. He’s making his first start since hitting the disabled list on April 7th. He has allowed four runs over nine innings pitched this season. Given how shaky the rotation has performed of late, a big game by Sabathia would go a long way.

As for the Blue Jays, staff ace and noted Chopped judge Aaron Sanchez will take the ball. He has a 3.66 ERA, but his peripherals indicate he’s more hittable than that. Sanchez owns a 4.58 FIP and a very low 5.95 K/9. It sure would be nice for the offense to make this one easy.

Today’s lineup proves interesting, as a slumping Giancarlo Stanton bats cleanup. He swapped spots with the red hot Didi Gregorius. Noticeably absent, however, is top prospect Gleyber Torres. Jack Curry reported earlier that Torres wouldn’t be called up right away. Sigh. Maybe one of these days.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM. The game will be televised on WPIX. Out-of-market fans can watch on the MLB Network or stream on MLB.tv. Plus, there’s always the radio! You can follow along on WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280 (regional listings).
