The Yankees return home from a rain-shortened 2-2 road trip to take on the Marlins tonight. The Bombers won their last game on Friday, which evened their record at 7-7 on the year. Following the pair of rainouts, New York looks to push its winning streak to two.
Pitching matchup
Luis Severino makes his fourth start of 2018 tonight. The Yankees’ ace seeks to rebound from a tough outing in Boston last Tuesday. The Red Sox torched Sevy for five runs on eight hits in just five innings. He also allowed three walks and only struck out six men. On the year, the right-hander is 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA.
Former Yankee Caleb Smith toes the slab for Miami tonight. In three starts this season, the left-hander is 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA. The Bombers will want to be patient at the plate tonight, as Smith has walked 10 men in only 13 1/3 innings and carries a 1.58 WHIP.
