Adam Warren suffers right ankle contusion after being hit by a comebacker

What is with the injuries today?

MLB: Spring Training-New York Yankees at Pittsburgh Pirates Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees are racking up the injuries today. First, Billy McKinney crashed into the wall and had to be pulled from the game in the first inning. X-rays came back negative, but he has been diagnosed with a left shoulder AC sprain. Now Adam Warren is hurt, too.

Warren relieved CC Sabathia to start the sixth inning, and was drilled by a comebacker off the bat of Aledmys Diaz. Watching live, it looked like the ball hit him in the left ankle, but it turned out to be his right ankle. Warren attempted to field the ball, but it rolled to Tyler Austin and the Yankees got the out. Aaron Boone and Steve Donohue ran out and immediately pulled Warren from the game.

Warren was sent for X-rays, which thankfully came back negative. He has been diagnosed with a right ankle contusion. The good news is that the bullpen is stacked (aside from the fact that Dellin Betances had a terrible day), and the Yankees will be fine if Warren has to rest for a few days. Fingers crossed that it isn’t more serious than that. Here’s hoping that the Yankees can make it out of Canada without suffering any more injuries.
