New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays: CC Sabathia vs. Marco Estrada

New, comments

The hunt for 162-0 continues with the big man on the mound and the other big man in center.

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The 2018 Yankees are undefeated. Aaron Boone has never lost a game as manager. Giancarlo Stanton has a 1.111 slugging percentage. Life is good.

In the third game of a four-game opening set against the Blue Jays, the Yankees look to veteran CC Sabathia to bring home the first series win of the season. Sabathia has some strong outings to build from. For a team whose one ostensible weakness was its starting pitching, the Yankees have shown no signs of struggle from the bump so far this season.

Thanks to the blinding performances of Luis Severino and Masahiro Tanaka, Toronto has been held to just three runs on seven hits over the first two games of the season. With New York's potent lineup, those numbers spell success.

The biggest story of the day (pun very much intended) will certainly be the appearance of Aaron Judge in center field. With an injury-riddled outfield and Brett Gardner resting so as not to play four straight April games on turf, Judge will move over to center while Billy McKinney stays in left and Stanton takes over in right. Judge has not played any other position but right field in his major league career, but has put in considerable time in center field and left field in college and the minors.

Will Judge's giant footsteps cover the extra space like an enormous gazelle? Will the Blue Jays try to bunt on Sabathia? Will Yangervis Solarte slip on his old Yankee uniform and try to sneak into the visitor dugout? Tune in to find out.

Welcome back to Saturday afternoon baseball. Game time is set for 4:07 PM EST on YES.
