After a long offseason, Opening Day is finally almost here. That means it is time for us to make our 2018 predictions before the season kicks off. Jake has won this contest two years in a row, but can he go 3-for-3? Based on his playoff predictions, I’m going to hope not.

2018 AL Standings

As far as the AL East goes, we expect the Yankees and Red Sox to duke it out for the top spot, but the bottom of the division is anyone’s guess. Just like last year, we think Cleveland and Houston will be good. The AL West is a bit confusing. We aren’t sure whether the Rangers or Athletics will be in last place, but we have a feeling that both teams will be bad.

Greg is strangely optimistic about the Marlins, while the majority of us think they will be the worst team in the league. Not much should change in the NL Central compared to last year. We don’t quite expect the Giants to have a worst-to-first moment, but we do think the Padres will be back in the basement.

Last year we entirely overlooked Aaron Judge and didn’t even make any predictions for him, but we won’t make that mistake again. We think Judge and Giancarlo Stanton will combine to hit over 100 home runs. What do you think?

Chad Green was surprisingly dominant in 2017, and we have high hopes for him this year.

Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout are so consistently good that they are always safe bets for ERA and WAR leader.

If you’re curious, Kunj sees the Yankees losing their one and only game of the season on Opening Day. He might be on to something there seeing as how the Yankees haven’t won an Opening Day game since 2011.

Our general consensus in 2017 was that the Yankees would win the World Series. The Yankees ended up surprising just about everyone with their deep run in the playoffs, but not us.
