With just ten games to go in spring training, we are really getting into the important matchups of the preseason. Just kidding, these ones don’t count either.
Today, Masahiro Tanaka takes the hill for the Yankees, opposing lefty Matt Boyd of the Detroit Tigers. It will be interesting to see how Tanaka looks today. He’s an up-and-down spring, pitching to a 10.13 ERA over 5.1 innings. The home run bug returned, as he’s given up a pair already. Maybe it will all click this afternoon.
Fortunately, the game is televised on MLB Network and broadcasted on WFAN, so we will have some photographic and video evidence that the game actually took place, unlike last night. First pitch comes at 1:05 EDT.
