Newsday | Anthony Rieber: By now everyone is well aware of Aaron Judge’s “pitch” to Manny Machado to join the Yankees. Most people think the whole thing was very much blown out of proportion. People like me, Kunj Shah, and Manny Machado. One of voice is slightly more important than the other. Machado thinks that Judge is a great kid with a bright future ahead of him. So do I. Can’t speak for Shah in this matter. Machado probably thinks that because he watches Judge absolutely feast off of his team’s pitching. Anyway, all’s well that ends well.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: In much more important Aaron Judge news, he will be headed to play against some Phillies’ minor-league players this afternoon. What’s the big deal, you may ask? Judge will be manning left field in this game. It will be the first time he has given left field a go this spring. Let’s see how this goes.
YES Network: The Yankees actually made a minor move yesterday. The recently DFA’d Jake Cave was picked up by the Minnesota Twins. Yes, the Twins Take Cave. In exchange for Cave, the Yankees acquired RHP Luis Gil. Our sister site, Twinkie Town, has an article you can read regarding the trade. Big moves all around. Farewell, Jake Cave. May you Rake Cave in Minnesota.
New York Post | Dan Martin: The reason Jake Cave was DFA’d in the first place was due to the Yankees signing Neil Walker. Walker is expected to play second base. Or is he? While top prospect Gleyber Torres was sent down to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Tyler Wade has spent the entire spring making his case to be the starting second baseman. Wade has been incredible on offense and defense. He’s also really fast. Aaron Boone has said that he’s weighing all his options. Honestly, this is a good problem to have.
New York Post | Dan Martin: Hey, let’s talk about that other Yankee player who is having himself a grand ‘ol spring. Gary Sanchez has shown everyone that his offense is not to be forgotten in all the Judge and Stanton hype. Sanchez’s defense and work ethic have also greatly impressed his new manager. Gary, he who shall be known as Gary, also mentioned that he is a fan of Boone. It’d be kinda awkward if he wasn’t. In any case, everything is going well.
