The Yankees made a splash this morning by agreeing to sign veteran infielder Neil Walker. This opens the door to a number of permutations regarding the lineup and defense. Those are questions for tomorrow, though. Now there’s a game to play, as the Twins visit George M. Steinbrenner Field.
Aaron Boone doesn’t have too many of the regulars going up against Phil Hughes, but it’s still an interesting lineup. Brett Gardner, Giancarlo Stanton, Greg Bird, and Brandon Drury represent the everyday players. The red-hot Billy McKinney also gets the nod. He has been real fun to watch so far. Plus, Tyler Wade is back! It’s nice to see him in action after rolling his wrist.

On the pitching side of things, Masahiro Tanaka will make his second start of the spring. Hopefully it goes better than the first, when he surrendered four runs over 1.1 innings. Grapefruit League numbers aren’t typically indicative of how a pitcher will perform in the regular season, but it would be nice to see Tanaka do well. I’m going to keep an eye out on location. He needs to keep his pitches down in order to be successful.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM and you can watch on YES.
