One of my favorite summertime activities involves spending the evening outside, a portable radio dialed to the Yankees game, while having a catch with a good friend. As a result, I have a soft spot for John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman in the booth. They have their many drawbacks, but I couldn’t imagine anyone else calling the action. I bring this up because today’s game is available by radio broadcast only. Given how much of the East Coast is still securely in winter’s grip, I’m thinking it’s better to listen indoors.
The Yankees made the trip to Jupiter, Florida to take on the Marlins. These two teams came together in December for one memorable trade. It resulted in Giancarlo Stanton being a Yankee, if you haven’t heard. While Stanton isn’t in today’s lineup, Aaron Boone did bring some firepower.

Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, and Didi Gregorius represent the big bats. Top prospects Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar also get the start. Plus, Adam Lind is the lineup. It’s hard not to like that.
As for pitching, Jordan Montgomery takes the mound, hoping to continue his string of success. He’s pitched to a 1.04 ERA over 8.2 innings this spring. Boone already named him the team’s fifth starter, so he just has to keep things rolling.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM and you can tune in on WFAN 660/101.9 FM.
