Yanks Should Engage In Trade Talks With Cleveland...Just Not For A Pitcher...

This should strike up good conversation...

I've seen so many post's about trading combinations involving Florial, Andujar, Frazier and Abreu for Corey Kluber. I've seen trades where all four get dealt for Kluber...and Kipnis? Now I know people are going to be up in arms about this one and say why on earth would the Indians make that trade? Or things like, we need pitching pitching and more pitching. I like dream trades, so wake me up if you think this is too far fetched...

Indians receive : Florial, Andujar, Frazier, Abreu and Adams

Yankees receive: Franciso Lindor

Yeah...I know. Why would Cleveland ever trade Lindor? Lindor is a 25 year old, switch hitting, gold glove shortstop. The deal isn't even enough to acquire him. He's currently the face of the Cleveland Indians franchise. People will say we have Didi! Or who's going to play 3rd? Or that any trade for Lindor will require Torrez. The Cleveland Indians reportedly tried to extend Francisco Lindor. An extension which was rumored to be in the 100 million dollar range. Lindor turned down the deal which makes sense given how much he could cost when he would hit the free agent market. So we know Cleveland does not hand out many long term, high salary contracts. The largest contract they've ever dealt was to Encarnacion, 65 million over four years. Let's face it, it would handicap their efforts to put a productive team on the field. Sooooo...why not trade him and get young pieces back for the future? They could plug Yu Chang, an impressive Shortstop out of Taiwan who is currently the Indians 6th best prospect. Chang can rake. He is a power hitting Shortstop who would currently have to make a move to third or second as he is blocked by Lindor. They also have Jose Ramirez and the Indians #2 prospect is a third baseman. Ramirez could remain at second, Chang at Short and Andujar at third. They could then flip third base prospect Nolan Jones for outfield help or pitching.

I think Lindor provides a greater reward then Manny Machado. He also does not have the character issues Machado has. This would mean that the Yankees would be moving on from Gregorious, unless he could play third? Or the Yanks could acquire Marwin Gonzalez to play the hot corner. I believe paying Lindor would be more worthwhile then Machado. The Yanks could make a run at Arenado next offseason but thats just too much money to go around. So forget Kluber, Machado and Harper and stop with the Kipnis talk. Cashman said the Yanks will get savvy. Let's do something crazy. Sign Happ, take a flyer on Kikuchi and sure up the bullpen. Oh, and get Lindor...

S Hicks CF

R Judge RF

S Lindor SS

R Stanton LF

L Gregorious 3B

R Sanchez C

S Gonzalez 1B

R Voit DH

R Torrez 2B

L Gardner LF

Gonzalez could play 1st, 3rd, LF.

I think there are deeper teams lined up that could pull this off but what do you think? Can the Indians pay Lindor in the long run? Can the Yanks pull this off? Or is Jason Kipnis potentially going to be a Yankee...?
