MLB.com: We already know that we have to wait until the new year for Manny Machado to sign, but it remains to be seen if he’ll go with the Phillies, White Sox, or Yankees. Jon Heyman anticipates the other two teams to offer more money, but thinks Machado might take a cheaper deal to become a Yankee.

NY Daily News | Mark Fischer: This year’s Hall of Fame announcement is coming up in a few weeks, and Mariano Rivera is on the ballot for the first time. He could be the first player unanimously voted in, though that is unlikely. One Red Sox writer said he won’t vote for Mo and took an issue with saves and closers both. Instead of sending in a blank ballot or a no vote, though, the writer decided not to turn in a ballot.

SNY | Chris Carelli: We don’t see the Yankees make too many big deals around Christmas, but there have been a handful over the past twenty years. Most recently, the Bombers signed both CC Sabathia and Mark Teixeira in the days leading up to Christmas in 2008. Carl Pavano, Jason Giambi, Hideki Matsui, and Kei Igawa also make the list.
