Building 2019

Now that the Yankees have re-signed CC and Gardner and traded for Paxton the offseason is really getting started. The way I see it the Yankees still need 1-2 more starters, pen reinforcement, a 2B or SS until Didi's return, and some kind of solution at 1B.

Before I continue, I don't think the Yankees will be in on Harper or Machado. If they are in on one then I'd prefer Harper and his big lefty bat to slide between Judge and Stanton. (or Stanton and Sanchez)

Starters

I still feel the Yankees are going to sign Corbin, filling the rotation. I'd prefer Kikuchi personally but Corbin just seems like the move the Yankees will make to contend for 2019. I'm ok with that. I still think that they need to sign a 6th starter because starters break. Paxton is injury prone, CC is 38, Corbin had TJS. I'm OK with rookies as 7-10 starters but for the 6th spot I'd like a veteran. Maybe someone like Tyson Ross on a 1/5 deal.

Pen

My preference is to bring back Robertson. If not then bring back Britton. then go to war with a pen of Chapman Robertson/Britton, Betances, Green, Holder, German, and Ross. If they use an 8 man pen then you can bring in someone off the shuttle like Abreu.

SS/2B

Marwin Rodriquez. Even if 2017 was a fluke not to be repeated I like him to play SS for the first half of the season. He was a league average OPS guy last year which is good enough. When Didi returns he can go back to being a super sub ... OR....

1B - it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for the Yankees to go with a platoon of Bird and Voit. I don't like it personally but the Yankees may be out of money before it gets addressed. Anyway I can see a scenario where the Yankees platoon them until Didi returns and then they trade one of them and let Gonzalez play 1B and use whoever isn't traded as the backup. That said I would love it if Bird is healthy and wins the job outright and Voit hangs on as his backup.
