MLB | Daniel Kramer: J.A. Happ has unsurprisingly been named the Game One starter for the ALDS. He’ll go up against Boston’s Chris Sale. Happ has been excellent for the Yankees this year and even better against the Red Sox. The lefty has a 1.99 ERA against Boston in four starts this year. Aaron Boone also announced Masahiro Tanaka would get the ball in Game 2, while Boston will send David Price to the bump.

NJ.com | Randy Miller: The Yankees’ ALDS roster has been set. There are two changes from the Wild Card roster. Both Tyler Wade and Kyle Higashioka were removed from the roster in favor of CC Sabathia and Stephen Tarpley. Perhaps most notably, Greg Bird has been left off the ALDS roster. We’ll always have the Andrew Miller moment, Greg.

Yahoo Sports | Liz Roscher: While Yankee fans celebrated the win on Wednesday night, a couple of fans took it too far. On Thursday, a video of a Yankee fan dumping beer on an Oakland fan went viral. I can’t say I’m entirely surprised. New York isn’t necessarily renowned for its hospitality, but this is honestly a shame. No one should be subjected to that kind of treatment, and if the person who did that reads this site let me just say — you suck.

Fangraphs | Jeff Sullivan: Dellin Betances has really bounced back this season after a volatile 2017 season. Betances’ appearance in the Wild Card Game really felt like a turning point in the contest. In the context of what happened last postseason, seeing Betances succeed like that was really refreshing. Sullivan’s deep dive into his turnaround is definitely worth the read.
