The Yankees did it again! For the second consecutive year, the Bombers prevailed in the American League Wild Card Game, topping the Athletics by a score of 7 to 2. The team took the lead in the first inning, when Aaron Judge crushed a huge two-run homer.
By picking up a win tonight, the Yankees punched their ticket to the ALDS, where they will face the Boston Red Sox. To say these two teams know each other well would be a massive understatement. They played 19 games together in the regular season, including a three-game series just last weekend. Boston won the season series by ten games to nine, but the slate gets wiped clear in the playoffs.
Considering they led all of baseball with 108 wins, the Red Sox have home-field advantage for the series. The first two games will take place at Fenway Park, before the Bronx plays host for two. Should a fifth game prove necessary, it will occur in Boston.
